 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

        Ephesians 2:8-9.

Don’t pat yourselves on your back for your salvation. This passage from Ephesians emphasizes that salvation is a free, undeserved gift from God, received through faith rather than earned through human effort or merit.

What did you just tell me preacher? Salvation is obtained by God's unmerited favor, not by human obligation. You have received this gift because you have put your trust in God and His promises. In other words, by what you do or your honorable deeds will not and cannot earn salvation. Salvation is the finished work of God preventing pride from flesh.

Ephesians 2:10 said, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

For this verse verifies the assertion of man’s good works as having nothing to do in obtaining our salvation. Created in Christ Jesus into good works literally means having been re-created by Christ for good works; to simplify it, He remade our Spiritual lives so we could then do good works.

Note: Good works follow—not precede—salvation.
