Psalm 118:24

Psalm 118:24Commentary's How many times in the Bible do you see a chapter start and end with the same verse? In Psalms 118:1 it reads,  “O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.” Many people who read this verse takes it to mean that it is for the day we wake up is well, but it doesn’t really mean when everything is going good for us but instead the author is meaning when we are also in hard times.

The author of Psalms 118 is writing about incredible adversity. It's not written when times are good, but when times are hard. Situations were changing. The Psalmist cried out to God in anguish, the enemy surrounded him. He felt like he was being pushed back, and about to fall. Yet right during amid huge struggles shared, this chapter both starts and ends with the same verse, of giving thanks and praise unto God. Psalms 118:29 “O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”

We can rest assured that in His grace, God has made every day, and for that gift itself we can “rejoice and be glad in it.” No matter what we face, we can still believe in God’s goodness and love, for that is what carries us through the most difficult of seasons.

We might be facing the toughest of times right now, but the truth is this, He is still given us breath for today. Jesus came to give us hope and freedom, He is the very reason we can live with joy right in the battles and have peace that is unexplainable to the world. He is with us and will never leave or fail us. His love covers us; Jesus gives us the strength to face every trial and obstacle with courage and grace. We can rest in the security that Truth brings.

No matter what you are up against, be confident in God’s unchanging love for you, always. And it is written, “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24.
